Historical Availability History

Historical availability measures the proportion of completed events that remained available for public, educational, administrative, and commemorative use during the reporting period. It does not measure accuracy, which is reported separately and is not a percentage.

Method

Availability is confirmed daily. A completed event is counted as available if it can be cited, taught, commemorated, and relied upon. An event under interpretive dispute remains available, because the dispute concerns wording rather than occurrence.

The figure has been stable at 99.9997 percent throughout the reporting period and for each prior period on record. The Bureau considers stability at this level to be evidence that the programme is working.

The remaining proportion

The Bureau does not publish a breakdown of the unavailable proportion. Requests for a breakdown are retained.

Prior periods

Reporting for periods before 2026 is held by the Archive. Figures published under a superseded revision of the Current Approved Past remain accurate as published and are not restated.
