Office of Public Recollection
Citizen Services
The Bureau provides four public services and one appeal channel. Each produces a document. None requires an account, a legal name, an address, or any payment. Most filers are not interviewed.

Before you file
Nothing you enter on this site is transmitted anywhere. These services run entirely in your browser. There is no server that receives a submission, no database, and no account. Receipts and certificates are generated locally and encoded into the page address so that the same link reproduces the same document.
Do not enter a Social Security number, financial account, password, precise home address, government identification, or any other sensitive information. No service asks for these and none of them is required.
What happens after a filing
Following a report, the Bureau may:
- Issue a Receipt of Unverified Prior Event.
- Recommend voluntary recollection alignment.
- Request copies of documents you already hold.
- Determine that the event occurred as scheduled.
- Consolidate your report with a prior filing.
- Close the matter before opening it.
A receipt is not evidence of acceptance. It is evidence that a filing was received, which the Bureau treats as a separate matter from whether it was accepted.
