Plain language, no Bureau voice

The Historical Accuracy Enforcement Bureau is fictional. It is a work of satire written for this website.

There is no such federal agency. There never was one. Specifically:

  1. There is no Continuity and Prior Events Act of 1908, and no amendment to it, retroactive or otherwise.
  2. There is no Current Approved Past, and no Revision 12.4.
  3. No government body has authority over your memory, and no one can require you to align a recollection with an official record.
  4. Every form on this site is a fictional document. None of them is a real government form. None of them creates an obligation.
  5. Every person named as Bureau staff is invented. Constance Vale, Milton K. Wren, Dr. Lena Or, Spencer R., Elias P. Thorne, R. Morrow, and Employee 000 are characters.
  6. Every case number, directive number, advisory number, and metric on this site is fiction.

What is real

The historical events the site refers to are real, and we take care with them. Every artifact that leans on a real event, person, date, or document carries a source note distinguishing established history from the Bureau’s invented paperwork. Those notes are on the artifact pages themselves, at the bottom, under “Real-world source note.”

Our rule is simple. The joke is aimed at institutions that mistake certainty for accuracy. It is never aimed at people who suffered in the events described, and it is never at the expense of the historical record being right.

Nothing you type here goes anywhere

This site is entirely static. There is no server that processes input, no database, and no account system.

  1. The report form, the self-assessment, and the record verification search all run in your browser.
  2. Nothing you type is transmitted, stored, logged, or received by anyone.
  3. Receipt numbers and certificates are generated locally and encoded into the page address so you can share or reprint them. They are not records of anything.
  4. We do not ask for your legal name, address, date of birth, phone number, employer, government identification, or payment details, and you should never enter them.

If a fragment of this site reached you out of context

Some artifacts here are designed to look like real official documents, because that is the joke. If you arrived at a single page from a link, a screenshot, or a forward, and you are unsure whether it is genuine, it is not. Nothing on this domain is a government publication.

No page on this site is written or styled to function as an emergency alert, a public safety warning, or a health notice. If you have seen something that appears to be one of those and it points here, it did not come from us.

Concerns and corrections

If something on this site is historically wrong, or lands somewhere it should not, we want to fix it. The correction requests page explains how to raise it and what happens next. Real factual errors get corrected plainly, outside the fiction. We do not use the premise to wave away a mistake.
