WASHINGTON, July 20, 2026. The Historical Accuracy Enforcement Bureau today reported zero open historical nonconformity incidents, the first such result in the Bureau’s recognized history.

318 incidents are under review but not open. Both figures are published on the Bureau’s 2026 Performance and Continuity Dashboard.

The result follows the status modernization adopted in March 2026. Under the revised definitions, an incident assigned to a reviewing office is under review and is therefore not awaiting review. An incident that is not awaiting review is not open.

No incident file was closed, altered, or withdrawn in connection with the modernization.

“Zero is not a target we set lightly, and it is not a target we set,” said Acting Administrator Constance Vale. “It is the result of describing our work accurately, which the Bureau has now done, and which the Bureau will continue to do at the same level of accuracy.”

The Bureau does not anticipate a return to open incidents. The revised definitions apply to incidents received in future periods and to incidents received in periods that have already closed.

What the public should do

No action is required.

Members of the public with a matter pending may confirm its status. A matter that is under review is not open, and no further filing is required. A matter that is open does not exist.
